Suleymaniye Mosque and Complex, one of the four sites recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, was built by Suleiman the Magnificent between 1550-1557 by Mimar Sinan, the chief architect of the period. The Row Shops, an integral part of the Süleymaniye Complex, which were abandoned in recent years, were transformed into the “IBB Istanbul Design Museum” with the restoration works completed by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) in 2023. A total of 53 shops, where traditional arts and contemporary designs are intertwined, aim to make visible the creative potential of Istanbul, which has the title of design city, with a sustainable approach.

Repetitive arches are the main focus of the architecture throughout the street, thus creating an inspiration point for the branding. Visual identity, promotional materials, and signage design revolves around the same concept contributing to the intended atmosphere of the Istanbul Design Museum.
